H-C girls tame Tri-County; go 3-0 for week
The Hardin-Central varsity girls basketball team saw the first week of December going one of two ways, according to coach Tommy Burton.
Option 1: the Bulldogs could sweep their three games. Option 2: They could lose those games.
They chose the first option. After downing Norborne 63-30 Dec. 3 on the road and Richmond 51-40 Dec. 5 at Hardin-Central, the Bulldogs cruised to 38-17 a Dec. 6 victory over visitingTri-County.
“Our girls played fantastic all week,” Burton said. Winning the games was part of what senior post player Zoey Polk called “a really great start to the season.”
“We’ve all been working so hard and it’s really paying off,” Polk said. “And I love it.”
Teammate Hannah Finley agreed. Finley, a junior, said Hardin-Central’s 48-26 loss before Thanksgiving to visiting Chilhowee sparked the Bulldogs to stage their 3-0 week.
“We were pretty down,” Finley recalled. “We got beat down pretty hard last week. And it really hurt us, and I think we came back a little stronger. ……
