Second season has ‘similar’ feel for Kinder

In some ways, the second season of Jonathan Kinder’s stint as Orrick varsity girls basketball coach is like his first. During a preseason interview, Kinder estimated he would lead a nine-girl roster – or as he put it, “similar numbers to last year.” The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) website puts the total at 10. “Obviously, we’d like to have 10-plus,” Kinder said. MSHSAA lists three seniors. That trio includes someone area fans might’ve thought they wouldn’t see in an Orrick uniform again: Anela Fletcher. Fletcher left the program early last season, when she transferred to attend school in the Dakotas. As the Richmond News has reported, she transferred from there back to Orrick in time to play volleyball this fall. “She will help,” Kinder said. “She’s multi-talented and does everything well on the floor.” Fletcher, who also runs track in the spring, is pleased to finish her hoops career at Orrick. “It’s nice to be back,” she said.
