Carolyn Flint

Carolyn Lee Flint, 75, of Odessa went to heaven Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Carolyn was born Dec. 1, 1948, in Lexington, the daughter of Binnie Lloyd and Mamie Marie “Sue” (Wrisinger) Trainer. Caroline is survived by Steven G. Flint, her loving husband of 27 years. They were united in marriage on July 19, 1997, in Eureka Springs, Ark.

Carolyn’s beautiful life and spirit will be forever cherished in the lives of her three children, Candida (Dee) White of Odessa, Jeff (Michelle) Flint of Warrensburg and Vanessa Flint of Independence; and eight grandchildren, Aaron Stirewalt, Aric (Tiffany) Kerr, Ryan White (Melissa Jenkins), Kelsey Templeton, Destiny Dorrell, Dalton Heinrich, Calvin Heinrich and Charlotte Heinrich. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Carter Kerr, Maddox Kerr, Parker Kerr, Adeline Jenkins, Luna Templeton, Hudson Dorrell and Katherine Dorrell.

Her brother, Steve (Karen) Trainer of Sydney, Ohio; sister, Bonnie Sue (Robert) Lindsay of Edwards; two nephews, Bobby Lindsay of Lone Jack and Ray Lindsay of Edwards; two nieces, Shanan Trainer of Gladstone and Janet Wilson of Excelsior Springs; a special lifelong family friend, Lonnie White of Camdenton; and many other great-nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Stirewalt; and great-grandson, Caden Kerr.

Carolyn was raised in Richmond, where she attended school and graduated from Richmond High School.

She dedicated herself to being a loving housewife and homemaker for the past 27 years, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family.

Carolyn found joy in many hobbies, ranging from fishing on peaceful days to sewing and crafting with her own hands. She enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble and other board games, as well as going to the casino to play slot machines. She had a special talent for building and refinishing furniture, breathing new life into old pieces; and she loved the thrill of discovering treasures while antique shopping.

Music and movement also were dear to her. She was a self-taught pianist and enjoyed dancing whenever the opportunity arose.

She rarely missed an episode of “Wheel of Fortune” and almost always was the first to solve the puzzle. Above all, Carolyn cherished her time with her grandchildren and family, who filled her life with love and laughter.

Carolyn was of the Baptist faith. She will be dearly missed. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 15, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and services to follow at 2. Interment will be in Hilcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.
