NO SWEEP A sweep of Santa Fe in varsity 8-man football was not to be for Orrick. The Bearcats, who defeated Santa Fe 48-22 Oct. 18, lost their rematch 30-20. The Nov. 1 District 4 home defeat ended Orrick’s season at 3-7. “Our season had a lot of ups and downs and was filled with injuries,” Orrick coach Chase Sims stated Tuesday via email. “These boys had to deal with a lot of adversity and always stuck together. I was very proud of how they fought and was always prepared to come out every week, ready to put the work in to get better.” Officially, quarterback Xavior Gaskins led the Bearcats in total offense in their season finale. The junior passed for 275 yards, completing 16 of 25 attempts, with three touchdowns and two interceptions. He also paced Orrick’s rushing attack with 95 yards on 13 carries. Other contributors to the ground game included senior Jeff Rohde with 26 on five carries. Another senior, Logan Dennis, led Orrick’s receiving corps with 94 yards on three catches…
