NHC gets ready for W-N rematch
Norborne Hardin-Central (NHC) coach Andrew Watson and his Aggies have a chance to sweep Wellington-Napoleon in varsity 8-man football this season.
The Aggies (8-1) will face the Tigers (6-4) Friday night at Hardin-Central in District 4 action, with the winner to play for the district title Nov. 15. NHC edged Wellington-Napoleon 52-48 during the season.
Winning the rematch will be a challenge, Watson acknowledged. Since the Week 2 meeting, when Wellington-Napoleon was still getting used to the transition from 11man to 8-man, the Tigers have learned what their strengths and weaknesses are, he said.
“They’re a good football club and we (have) got to be prepared,” Watson said Tuesday.
Specifically, NHC must be prepared to defend against Wellington-Napoleon’s passing game, according to Watson. Leading the aerial attack is Jonny Hampton, the son of Wellington-Napoleon coach Andy Hampton.
“He throws a good ball,” Watson said.
