Bill was born Feb. 6, 1951, in Lexington. He was the son of James D. Edgar Sr. and Nell Jo (Bunch) Edgar. They preceded him in death. In 1973, Bill was united in marriage to Sharon Stapleton. Later, they divorced, but they remained close friends and she was involved in his fight with cancer.

Bill also served three terms as the eastern commissioner of Ray County. In addition, Bill worked for Edgar’s Roofing for 15 years.

Bill was passionate about three things. One was his granddaughter, Keerstin Edgar. He moved 12 years ago to Jonesboro to live out his life and be close to his granddaughter.

He also loved the game of golf. Though he might not have been the best golfer in his group, that did not stop him from loving the game of golf.

Bill was a great dancer, too, especially at line dancing. You could see him on the dance floor with all friends at Denim and Diamonds.

Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Judith Lynn; one niece, Jenni Edgar; one brother-in-law, Dana Hilker; and one brother, Charles Woessner.

Survivors include one daughter, Bridget Vinson (Corey), of Orlando Fla.; one son, Billy Bob Edgar (Carissa) of Jonesboro; one grandson, Austin Vinson (Ashley); and one granddaughter, Keerstin Edgar.

Other survivors include two brothers, James D. Edgar, Jr (Cheryl) of Richmond and Mark A. Edgar (Pam) of Camdenton; two sisters, Pamela Hilker of Richmond and Deborah Woessner of Talbott, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-greatnieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Richmond Christian Chapel, 801 Wollard Blvd., with Bill Purcell officiating.
