Spartans get jump on postseason prep

Richmond got a head start on prepping for its Class 3 District 8 semifinal game in 11-man football, Spartans varsity coach Nick Persell suggested Monday. Richmond (6-3) will face Cameron (46) at 7 p.m. Friday at Spartan Stadium. The Dragons helped secure the postseason meeting by thumping Benton of St. Joseph 48-12. The Spartans were expecting to play the Dragons, given that Cameron had routed Benton 43-8 during the regular season, according to Persell.
