HALFWAY TO PERFECTION
Richmond Middle School football coach Brandon Rittmiller and his young Spartans are halfway to a perfect season.
The middle schoolers are 3-0 entering their Oct. 1 meeting with visiting Holden. Those three victories include a 42-6 shellacking of Lafayette County of Higginsville Sept. 17 at Richmond and a 34-8 thumping of Carrollton Tuesday on the road.
Savion Webb powered the middle school Spartans offensively in their win over Lafayette County, rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries, including a 91-yard, second-quarter TD run. Defensively, Richmond held the young Huskers to 140 yards of total offense and produced two takeaways – both interceptions.
Brock Baker, an eighth-grader; and Hollis Hobbs, a seventh-grader, intercepted a pass apiece.
Webb also led the young Spartans in rushing against Carrollton, this time with 70 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Other ground-gainers included Carson Persell with 64 yards and a touchdown on five…
