Susette Fidler
Susette Marie Fidler, 81, of Richmond passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at NorthCare Hospice House in Kansas City. Susette was born Feb. 15, 1943, in Savannah, the daughter of Everett Edwin and Pearl (Ward) Brunk. She was united in marriage to James Robert Fidler of Higginsville on June 11, 1960. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2010.
Survivors include her three sons, Everett (Connie) Fidler of Higginsville, Vanace (Melanie) Fidler of Richmond and Shawn (Bobbie) Fidler of Hardin; and daughter, Berinda Fidler of Richmond.
Other survivors include 12 grandchildren: Shaya (Zachary) Walker, Noah Fidler, Brandon (Stacy) Hyden, Annie (Andrew) Palmer, Katie (Mike) Schrieman, Cassie Schnittker, Yzabella Nanadiego, Rosalee Besa, Lyndsea (Mark) Shane, David Haight, Jesse Fidler and Chastity (Matthew) Adkins. She also leaves behind 21 greatgrandchildren: Molly Hyden, Nada Hyden, Katelynn Schrieman, Dylan Schrieman, Hayden Schrieman, Tre Schnittker, Kiana Schnittker, Kayley Schnittker, Mia Schnittker, Jonas Palmer, Kenzie Hyden-Palmer, James Adkins, Mackinzie Adkins, Denver Haight, Zaelyn Welch, Olivia Fidler, Brayzlyn Shane, Brighlyn Shane, Brantlee Shane, Brexlee Shane and Brody Walker; Two brothers, Matthew (Teresa) Brunk of Forsyth and Doyle (Renee) Brunk of Muncie, Ind., also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Susette was preceded in death by her son, James Robert Fidler Jr.; granddaughter, Jessulyn Williams; and three sisters, Darlene Brunk, Renna Thaller and Edvina Enloe-Brunk.
Susette was reared and educated in Missouri, dedicating much of her life to raising her family as a loving housewife and homemaker.
In addition to her role at home, she worked outside the household at various jobs in Kansas City and locally, including at Price Candy Co., Whitiker Cable and Shirkey Nursing Home.
Susette was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond, where she participated actively in the Altar Society. During the 1970s and ’80s, she and her husband gave back to the community by serving as marriage counselors within the church.
In her personal life, Susette enjoyed crocheting and had a deep love for animals. She also had a passion for traveling, embracing the opportunity to explore new places and create cherished memories with her loved ones.

Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Visitation was scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
Interment was to be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville.
