RHS golfers weather heat and cold

Sloppy weather couldn’t stop Richmond girls golf coach Courtney Sisson and her varsity Spartans from conquering the field at a tournament hosted by Odessa Monday at Shirkey Golf Course. Led by an individual win from first-year high schooler Lyla Best, Richmond won the competition with a 415 – 72 strokes lower than runner-up Plattsburg. “It was cold and wet today,” Sisson stated via email. “This is the first time the girls have been exposed to these conditions and they adapted well. I am so proud of all of the girls for staying positive on a dreary day of golf. I know they would’ve liked their scores to be lower, but considering the amount of rain that we have had, I was happy.” Richmond’s scores for the 18-hole competition were as follows: Best, 93; Karoline Dooley, 94; Kylie Holland, 110; Taylor Hoeppner, 118; and Kayland Cooper, 118.
