New rehab unit opens at Shirkey Nursing

Rehab to Home is a new 12-bed unit recently opened by Shirkey Health Services. This specialized unit is purposefully crafted to deliver thorough rehabilitation and training. It aims to assist individuals in restoring or enhancing their capacity for daily living and ultimately facilitate their transition back to their homes. The idea for this unit was sparked by feedback from patients who had been admitted to Shirkey Nursing and Rehab for rehabilitation but expressed dissatisfaction with the nursing home atmosphere. “I am trying to create an alternative where the model of care is separate from the nursing home, so people don’t feel like they’re in a nursing home,” said Shirkey Health Services CEO Chris Brown. “It is a very small unit with all private rooms,” stated Brown. “The meals, therapy gym and dedicated staff are on site.
