Event focuses on emergency preparedness
The Ray County community came together recently with one common goal in mind — emergency preparedness.
Hosted by Special Needs Services (SNS) of Ray County and Community at Play (CAP), several agencies joined in by providing handouts, demonstrations and information.
SNS handed out go bags, along with personal hygiene products, first aid kits, and literature on preparing for various emergencies.
“The goal for the event was to educate citizens on the importance of being prepared for all types of emergencies,” said SNS executive director Suzan Breen.
Richmond Fire and Police departments, along with Ray County Ambulance, responded to a mock emergency with sirens wailing. A crowd gathered to watch as the scene was assessed, and the injured party was taken away by ambulance. After the demonstration, the departments opened their vehicles for public viewing and answered questions from the public.
