Richmond varsity football coach Nick Persell and his staff gave the Spartans a two-word motto to follow as they prepared for their Sept. 6 meeting with visiting St. Joseph Lafayette: “Own it.” “That spoke to owning your preparation and owning your mistakes you made, but also owning your play on the field and what you (have) got to do to get better,” Persell said.
