Dooley is mending; McGinnis is motivated for final season

Richmond senior Isabelle Dooley is thrilled to be running cross country again. Dooley, who has competed in the sport since middle school, was sidelined her junior year because of hip surgeries, she explained Aug. 20 after Meet the Spartans – an introduction to Richmond’s fall high school sports teams at Spartan Stadium. Still in physical therapy, she expects to return to racing Sept. 10 at Higginsville, she said. “I definitely missed the sport and … the opportunity to run last year,” Dooley said. “Having surgery during the season wasn’t easy.” Richmond varsity coach Sara Dalle is “very impressed” with Dooley’s recovery. “She has shown an unbelievable amount of tenacity and patience working her (way) back from two hip surgeries,” Dalle stated Monday via email. “She is still very limited in how much and how often she can run, but even with that, she makes sure every minute she runs is quality, as well as doing all the extra little things on a daily basis.” Dooley is one of two…
