Ruth Elaine Myers, known by all that loved her as Elaine, passed away peacefully Aug. 5, 2024, beside her husband, David Timothy Myers.
She fought a long, 18-year battle against heart failure, a medical miracle to the many doctors that managed her care.
Elaine was preceded in death by her loving parents, Hugo and Alta Smith; sister, Betty Scrogham; and nephew, Larry Smith II.
She leaves behind three siblings, Larry Smith, Lois Smith and Huetta Snelling; and five children, Jonathan Martin, Tammy (Anthony) Spires, Lisa Higgins, Keli Sunshine Dewaters and Michael Palmerin. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Jessica (Douglas) Hoeflicker, Amanda (David Yadon) Rusell, Emily Jenkins, Tyler Hackley, Sara (Marty) Koenig, Shaniece (Joshua) Wise, Kelsey Hackley, Seth (Katie) Houston, Justin (Bailey) Higgins, Hunter Higgins, Presley Borgman, Kellen Borgman, Greyson Palmerin and Maxton Martin; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 30, before her internment at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
