Commissioners plagued by unresolved bridge safety issues
Two Ray County landowners approached the Ray County Commissioners regarding progress on the Christian Road Bridge Number 10900071 during a recent meeting.
“Basically, there’s a bridge on Christian Road that needs to be replaced. It has no handrails, and you can’t get farm machinery over it,” said landowner Micheal
Graff. “It is dangerous. It’s kind of a bridge in a curve on the curve. If the weather is bad and a school bus topples off that thing, it will be bad. The money has been left for the bridge some time ago. We are trying to find out where we are with the commissioners, Judge Kevin Walden and the three people who are supposed to appraise the ground this is supposed to go on. Everything’s been done. They have taken the land-by-land claim, and the judges signed off on it, but the three people who are supposed to appraise it to give the landowner a fair and reasonable price don’t know anything about it. The money is just sitting there, and we’re trying to get someone to move on…
