Richard Dean Hartnett, 61, of Richmond passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Richard was born Oct. 2, 1962, in Richmond, the son of John and Carol (Hartman) Hartnett. Richard shared his life with his significant other, Pam Kenaga of Richmond, for the past nine years. Their relationship was a continuation of a lifelong friendship that had begun in childhood. Pam survives him at their home, holding dear the memories of their shared journey and enduring friendship.
In addition to his significant other Pam, Richard is survived by his parents, John and Carol Hartnett; sister, Marsha (Ron) Sifuentes; stepdaughter, Amber Kenaga; and step-grandson, Grayson Dunwoodie. Other survivors include two nieces, Julia (Ben) Tso and Jennifer Sifuentes; two nephews, Joseph (Kayla) Sifuentes and John Sifuentes; three great-nephews; two uncles, David Hartnett and Jewel Hartman; three aunts, Phyllis Shea, Betty Dornhoffer and Marilyn Barber; and a great-uncle, Arlo Hartman.
Richard was raised and educated in his hometown, graduating with the class of 1981 from Richmond High School.
He was a versatile and skilled worker, often described as a jack of all trades. Richard’s career spanned various roles, including fabrication and maintenance for several local businesses. At the time of his death, he was employed as a truck driver for Claymore Trucking in Independence.
He was an active member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge and a man of the Christian faith.
Richard had a passion for woodworking and particularly enjoyed crafting mini-replicas of trucks, a hobby that reflected both his professional life and his creative talents. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work were admired by many.

Visitation with graveside services will be held Saturday, July 27, with visitation 10-11 a.m. at Rayville Christian Union Church, followed by graveside services at 11:30 in Crowley Cemetery, Rayville.
