FAYE MARIE MORGAN

Faye Morgan
Faye Marie Morgan, 86, was called to Heaven on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Silvercrest at Deer Creek in Overland Park, Kan. She was born June 14, 1938, in rural Iowa to Bill and Grace (Scott) Watson. Faye was a student at Central Missouri State Teachers College. She was named freshman beauty queen and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. While there, she met John Morgan, whom she joined in matrimony on July 5, 1958.
Faye and John welcomed two children into their lives with the births of Kimberly and Monte. She was a caring and nurturing mother who always made sure her children were well provided for. She frequently played the role of chauffeur, making sure Kim and Monte got to their activities. Faye kept a beautiful home that was open to all friends and family. She was a wonderful cook and provided excellent meals for family dinners, celebrations and friendly gatherings.
The Morgans moved around the country several times for John’s work, with brief residences in Colorado and Georgia, eventually settling in Overland Park.
Faye worked as regional secretary at General Motors, as well as managing the family household. After the family’s return to the Morgan homestead in Polo, Faye opened Morgan’s in the Country, an antique shop and tearoom.
She and John made many trips to Europe for pleasure and for procuring antiques for the antique shop. Faye was a gracious hostess who made all her customers feel at home with her charming smile and freshly made crumpets and scones. After closing the antique shop, Faye frequently accompanied John on his business trips whenever possible.
Faye became a grandmother to Nell Marie in August 1998. Nell spent many weekends at the farm while growing up. Grandma Faye dearly loved the time they spent together at the farm, fishing at the pond, letting Nell ice the many batches of sour cream cookies that came out of the oven and spending quality lap time. Sundays were spent attending church services at Prairie Ridge Baptist Church, where Faye imparted to Nell the importance of religion and community.
While residing at Silvercrest, Faye was the one person that the residents sought out, either for just a hand to hold or an ear to bend. She always had time for a conversation and brought much joy to many people during her time there.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Vera Lynn Williams and Marjorie Banks.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Morgan; son, Monte Morgan (Chris); daughter, Kimberly Renee Gross (David); granddaughter, Nell Marie Gross; stepgranddaughters, Shannon Lesco, Kelly Clark and Jacey Gorman; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Faye Morgan has left us all a lifetime of love and cherished memories that we will forever hold in our hearts.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
