Sister trio share rabbit expertise
The Ray County Fair 4-H Rabbit Show gives competitors an opportunity to display their rabbits after caring for them prior to the 4-H event. Throughout the competitiveness of the day, the Littlewood sister trio said they had fun showing their rabbits.
Saying it is delicate work, Caroline, Carlee and Carmen Littlewood prepped and cared for their rabbits months prior to the show.
“I have been showing for three years,” said Caroline. “The rabbits we have are American Chinchilla, Polish, Standard Californians and Rex’s. Originally, my dad got me rabbits – I loved them so much and then we got mini-Rex’s. I started showing them, then I didn’t like the mini-Rex rabbits as much and my sisters would show them.”
Starting with beginninglevel rabbits includes activities such as selection, handling, breeds, parts, management, equipment, feeding, health, breeding and kindling. At the intermediate level, through hands-on activities, students learn to select, judge, give oral reasons, show rabbits,…
