Local library loans fishing poles

Books are the average rented-out object from the Ray County Library but if you’re a nature lover yourself, you may consider its fishing pole lending program. Just as easily as you can borrow a book, the local library is stocked with 20 fishing poles to choose from. Anyone with a valid I.D. can borrow a fishing pole this summer. “Ray County Library began lending fishing poles in early 2018. We have them available for patrons to borrow to make it easier for families to access and enjoy local outdoor activities,” said Ray County Library Director Stacy Hisle. “Our goals for having them are to meet the community’s needs and engage with community members who might not use traditional library resources.” Hisle said the fishing equipment is popular in the summertime and patrons of all ages borrow them to enjoy warm weather outdoor activities.
