Off-roading resort owners discuss noise complaints
Summertime is near and offroading is enjoyed by many in the community. Due to noise complaints from neighbors of the Ray Rocks Offroad Resort, owners Devin Wilmoth and Marianna D’Amato addressed the Ray County Commissioners during a recent meeting.
They discussed clarification with their permits and lack of county noise ordinances before the business’ permit review in the next months. Wilmoth said there are about 14 surrounding homes around the resort and two of them have voiced noise complaints.
“Originally in my memory, when we were talking to you guys, the business would be open until dusk,” said Western Commissioner Gary Wilhite about early meetings when Wilmoth and D’Amato first opened their resort last year.
D’Amato said the two and the commissioners originally agreed on dusk but also agreed they were going to “play it by ear and see what the customers wanted.”
“I had a couple of people saying customers are riding until midnight,” said Wilhite.
