Arrest made in tool theft
A Kansas City resident was arrested in Richmond Saturday, May 20 for theft of tools from Richmond residents.
Christopher Clark, 33, was arrested by Ray County Sheriff’s Department and charged with felony first-degree burglary and felony stealing $750 or more.
Clark allegedly stole tools from Richmond residents and then sold them, according to Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers.
The sheriff said Clark was on probation and wearing an ankle monitor while committing the thefts, allowing him to be quickly located.
“We received tips of where Clark was and calls confirmed which house he was in. We got warrants to go in and arrest him,” he added.
The sheriff said the person who bought the tools from called the sheriff’s department and returned the tools, which in turn were returned to the rightful owners.
“There are honest people out here,” said Childers, noting Clark is being held in the Ray County Jail.
