Concerns shared with commissioners
Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston shared concerns with county commissioners about recent talk of selling the current prosecutor’s building and moving the staff into the courthouse.
During this week’s Ray County Commissioners meeting, Johnston explained citizens had informed her of the idea, which was discussed at a prior commissioner’s meeting solemnly as ideas.
Johnston and Ray County Victim’s Advocate Melissa White explained that moving into the courthouse would not work for their staff or the victims.
“I’ve been hearing that you guys want to sell my building and have us move into the courthouse somehow. I wanted to address this and see if there was any truth,” said Johnston. “I was just wondering if that was the case, if there is any thought about it – because I want to know.”
“It was brought up as an idea last week,” said Eastern Commissioner Dave Powell.
Presiding Commissioner Billy Gaines
clarified it was brought up in conversation with talk of the future…
