City sidewalk 50/50 grant continues
The Sidewalk Improvement Grant Program makes funds available to residential and commercial property owners for sidewalk replacement or new installation. The City of Richmond recognizes the quality sidewalks within the city are necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of residents and visitors.
Although city code requires all new subdivisions to have sidewalks installed, many of the properties in town are older and either have dilapidated sidewalks or no sidewalks at all, according to www.cityofrichmond. com.
“The program has been going since 2017. We generally have one to two people a year participate in the program,” said Richmond City Administrator Tonya Willim. “The budget for fiscal year 2023 is $10,000. My favorite part of the 50/50 grant is the mayor and council are always working to create a safe and connected sidewalk network throughout the city.”
