Orrick R-XI School District recently approved four-day school weeks for the next full school year, 2023-24. During a March question and answer forum, Orrick School District Superintendent Scott Guilkey said the main concern from parents at the forum was they believed the district was moving too fast and should perhaps wait for the 2024-25 school year. “Survey results from those responding showed 74 percent of parents and 73 percent of community members expressing support for the transition to a four-day school calendar,” Guilkey added. During the forum, a presentation addressed reasons the district wanted a four-day school week. “There are two primary considerations the administration and school board have looked at in consideration of a four-day school calendar, ultimately leading us to present information to the community.
