Easter Eggs-Po in full swing
The Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its second annual Easter Eggs-Po basket event, with drawings slated for April 5.
The event allows the chamber to raise money for the Christmas fund. The Christmas funds are used for the Annual Christmas Parade, Santa visits and more for Richmond residents, said Chamber Director Renee Kellerman.
Those hoping for a chance to win an Easter basket can purchase one ticket for $1 or six tickets for $5.
“This is a community event,” she said. “You don’t have to be a part of the chamber to participate.”
The Easter fundraiser was inspired by Kellerman’s friend, Beverly Myers, and the event began.
Last year, there were 32 basket entries and the function raised over $1,000. As of now, there are 29 basket entries and counting, the director said.
“We’ll sell tickets for about three weeks. It kicked off Thursday and the drawings will be on Wednesday, April 5. Tickets will be on sale for three weeks,” she said. “The Easter Eggs-Po is probably one of my favorite events we do.”
Kellerman enjoys helping people.
“Easter is all about Jesus. He is risen. I’ve been a strong faith Christian all of my life and there are times in your life when things become more meaningful as you get older. Anytime we can help someone, that’s what I like to do,” she added. “I love to help and pray for people. Easter is all about Jesus – in my heart and mind.”
Kellerman welcomes anyone interested in joining the chamber.
“We welcome everyone, we want to talk to people and we love positivity. We are moving up and don’t look down or back – we move forward,” said Kellerman.
The chamber is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., but if someone cannot visit during those hours, Kellerman would be happy to set up an appointment.
