Youth encouraged to participate in drama camp

Spring Drama Camp is the perfect place for children to be aware of what is involved with theater. Coordinated by Farris Youth Theater Company, one- and two-day camps began in January at Farris Theater in Richmond and will continue through April. While substitute teaching in Richmond, Farris Youth Theatre Company Director Trish Fields says she can build a connection with area youth, helping them become more comfortable with the idea of theater. Fields understands theater can be intimidating and frightening – especially the idea of having to be on stage — but says there are other positions available for participants who do not want to be on stage. The main point of drama camp is to get the children used to the audition basics to get them more comfortable with the beginning stages of theater. “They can be on stage crew and move sets.
