Thurza Louise Falls, 69, of Richmond, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, at North Kansas City Hospital. 

Thurza was born on Mar. 29, 1953, in Lexington, the daughter of Aymon Stanley and Helen Louise (Sloan) Nevels.  She was united in marriage to William E. “Bill” Falls of Stet on Dec.15, 1972; he survives of the home. 

Additional survivors include son, William S. “Billy” (Julie) Falls of Richmond; brother, Michael (Tami) Nevels of Lawrence, KS; sister, Elaine (Andrew) McCaddin of FL; two grandchildren, Brianna (Tyler) Fankhauser of Jefferson City and Kelsey (Justin) Barnes of Blue Springs; 4 great grandchildren, Kylie Wallace, Pierce Fankhauser, Owen Barnes and Finley Barnes; nieces/nephews, Mike Motley, Scott Motley, Devin Nevels, Garrett Nevels, Logan Keasling and Regan Keasling; and grand fur babies, Abby and Ellie. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Arlene Nevels. 

Thurza was reared and educated in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in the class of 1971. Thurza worked in the banking industry for 44 years (last 22 years as Chief Executive Vice President of Community Bank of Missouri). Thurza was an active member of her community. She had served on numerous committees and various organizations such as Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Richmond City Council, just to mention a few. She also was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond where she had served as Trustee and helped with Vacation Bible School.  She enjoyed her flowers and taking care of her “Bills” - Big Bill and Little Bill.  She will be dearly missed by her community, her friends and family. 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the First Baptist Church of Richmond or the American Cancer Society.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.  Burial will be in Lexington Memory Gardens.  Please remember to share your memories of Thurza with the family by visiting thurmanfuneralhome.com.
