Melvelle “Mel” Sego
Melvelle “Mel” Sego, 58, of Webster City, IA died on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at the CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. Visitation will be at Faith United Methodist Church, in Webster City, IA, on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 12 p.m. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.
Mel was born on Nov. 15, 1963, in Richmond, MO, to Junior and Hazel (VanCamp) Drevs. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1981, and went on to Graceland College in Lamoni, IA and earned her BSN in Independence, MO. Mel married Marty Sego on Aug. 6, 1988, in Richmond, MO. She worked as a nurse at the Hamilton County Hospital from 1988 until 2006 when she went to work for the Sahai Clinic for three years. She then went on to work at Bomgaars until 2015, and then Key clothing until 2017 when she retired and became a full-time mom and grandma.
Mel was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning her produce, fishing, boating on Morris and Cornelia Lakes, and weekend trips with Marty. Mel loved her family, one of her greatest joys was spending time with them, especially the grandkids.
Mel’s family includes her husband of 34 years; sons Nate (Janine) Sego, and their daughters Quinn and Reagan, of Kearney, NE, and Alex (Cassie) Sego, and their son Collin, of Webster City; mother Hazel Drevs, of Richmond, MO; sisters Barb (Chris) Dove of Kansas City, MO, Bonnie (Brian) Huston, of Richmond, MO, and Mary (Dale) Duffett of Richmond, MO; father and mother-in-law John and Sheryl Sego; sisters-in-law Lynn Mueller of Des Moines, IA and Sonya (Rod) Middleton of Eagle Grove, IA.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother-in-law, Troy Sego.
