Participants find inner child, get wet at CAP event

Community at Play (CAP) helped bring out the inner child of those who participated in the organization’s water-themed event July 15 at Maurice Roberts Park in Richmond. CAP is a program designed to bring groups together with fun community events. Special Needs Services of Ray County put on last week’s program to help CAP pursue its mission. Cassie Hobeck, CAP coordinator, was excited about setting up for the participants. Alongside her volunteers and helpers, she hoped many people would show up, she said. The event began with a playful water fight, with children from the community and those from Special Needs Services splashing water onto one another by squirting water and throwing water balloons. And laughing. The water balloon fight wasn’t planned, Hobeck said. “But I couldn’t interrupt it,” she said. The water fight was among many activities participants could enjoy.
