Bulldogs back in groove of summer softball training

On Monday morning, something was clear to Hardin-Central varsity softball coach Brandee Doyle as her Bulldogs started their latest offseason team camp at the Hardin American Legion and Auxiliary baseball and softball fields. “I can tell we’ve had a couple weeks off and it’s been summertime,” said Doyle, a 1992 Richmond High School graduate. This week’s camp, slated to conclude Friday, is the girls’ third this summer. The first ran June 6-10. The second, a camp for pitchers and catchers only, ran June 20-24. “Really, our camps have gone pretty well,” Doyle said. The camps are giving the Bulldogs chances to experiment, according to Doyle. “We’ve got a lot of young girls, including young pitchers, that are going to have to step up (this season) and pitch and do things like that,” she said. “So right now, we’re just trying to rotate people and see where everybody fits.” Jenny Gant, who’ll be a senior this fall; and Dannica Manchester, a soon-to-be sophomore, are among those going…
