Richmond FFA teaches students the importance of agriculture
The Richmond FFA Chapter officer team gathered on June 23 to pursue its goal of teaching younger kids in the community more about the importance of agriculture.
The team met with the Richmond summer school fourth-grade classes at Sunrise Elementary and talked to them about the differences between dairy and beef cattle. During their time with the classes, FFA members presented the students with a worksheet and slide show.
The objectives of the lesson were to teach the young students what dairy cattle are, how they are different from beef cattle and how they are raised.
The high school students taught the fourth-graders about what dairy cattle eat and the calcium-rich dairy products that are made from milk, as well as how important dairy foods are to human beings’ overall health. They even talked a little bit about how the milk is processed and transported to grocery stores.
