Check out Ray Co. Library’s new fishing poles
RICHMOND – In a way, the Ray County Library is getting into the angling business.
Fishing poles can be rented from the library, located at 215 E. Lexington St., Richmond. As easily as one can check out a book, the Ray County Library is stocked with 20 fishing poles for renting.
Anyone can rent a fishing pole this summer.
“It’s the same way you would check out a book,” said Kiley Lindley, library staff member. “You get a little tacklebox. You get a whole bunch of extra things to go with (the fishing poles). They’re rented out for two weeks.”
The Department of Conservation teamed up with the library to help patrons get out into nature.
“We paired up with them,” Lindley said.
The service gets some strange reactions.
“‘Oh my gosh, you rent out those? That’s so weird,’ people say because they never see that,” Lindley said, smiling.
