Florez family praises Ray County living over urban life
RICHMOND – To some, Jennifer and Robert Florez’s family might seem like Ray County’s version of “Cheaper by the Dozen,” the book-turned-film-turned-movie remake-turned-2022 reboot.
The Florezes, who moved this past year from Liberty to Richmond with Robert’s parents, have eight children on their farm. There are nine total. The oldest, 23, has moved out.
Of those children, two are biologically theirs. The rest are adopted or being fostered. Jennifer and Robert became licensed to be foster parents in 2015, Jennifer said.
“We had a sibling group within two days,” she said. “(We) adopted them in April of 2018, just a month after adding our youngest foster sibling group of four.”
Richmond attracted Jennifer and Robert when they were seeking a new place to live, they said. Initially, they were scheduled to close on a property with 18 rooms.
