Dozens display, inspect classic cars
RICHMOND – Sparkling paint jobs and sunshine glinting from chrome greeted scores of participants and guests at the Richmond Mushroom Festival Car Show.
Sponsored by Belair Farms in the City Hall parking lot, the show included century-old and modern vehicles with brilliant paint jobs, glass flakes, pinstripes and flames.
Michelle Glunt, Excelsior Springs, brought a 1929 Ford Model A with a rumble seat.
“We traveled 1,900 miles to buy this car,” she said. “We’re only the third family to own this one.”
Ford did not create many of them.
“It’s one of 890 in the group that was made,” Glunt said.
The original owner bought a top-of-the line model, including mahogany trim, she said.
“Any extras he could order on it he did,” Glunt said.
Rebecca Heckart, Excelsior Springs, brought a 1957 Ford Fairlane to the show. The car reminds her of family.
“We used to take it to Minnesota. It belonged to my grandpa, and we bought it from him,” she said. “It has a lot of memories and I’ve learned to drive…
