Bowman headed to state again

RICHMOND – For the second straight year, Aiden Bowman, a senior, will play in a state boys golf tournament. By shooting a 98 (+27) Monday in the Class 2 District 4 Tournament at Shirkey Golf Course, Bowman punched his ticket for Class 2 state competition, slated for May 16 and 17 at Columbia Country Club. The top four players on the top two teams advanced, as did the top 12 individuals not on qualifying teams, including those who tied for positions, per Missouri State High School Activities Association regulations. Overall, Bowman finished in a tie for 17th with St. Michael the Archangel’s Joseph McNamara. “I’m excited, obviously,” Bowman said. “Definitely got a little lucky, but we’re just going to go and just have fun again for this last year.” Bowman, who placed 61st in 2021 at state, wondered shortly after finishing the 18-hole, par-71 round if his score would be good enough to make the return trip.
