Labor of love reveals mother’s feelings of faith, hope, inspiration

RICHMOND – Many Richmond folks will remember the late Crystine Harrison and her poems, a few of which are still read during Advent at Richmond United Methodist Church. Her sons, Jerry and Bob Harrison, have compiled a book of their late mother’s poetry. “It was a labor of love,” Jerry said. Other family members joined Bob and Other family members joined Bob and Jerry to pull all the various aspects of the book together. “It was a family effort,” Jerry said. The result is a hardback copy of Harrison’s poetry, journal and photos. The cover jacket features a colorized 1920s photo of Harrison as a teenager. “My brother (Bob), his boys and myself – we previously published a small spiral book of her poetry,” Jerry said. They created the spiral-bound poetry book for their mother’s 100th birthday in 2006. “About two years ago,” Jerry said, “my brother, who is 89, said it would be nice if we could put all this into a book.” Jerry spearheaded the project to honor their mother for her…
