Deputy, student clash in cafeteria
ORRICK – Video taken and posted by students show versions of what occurred not the whole story, but have helped prompt a change in addressing in-school conflicts, Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers said Friday.
A sheriff’s sergeant in the Orrick High School cafeteria is seen in the video talking to a boy, 14. The sergeant then tries to get the boy to rise from the cafeteria table and leave, using a grip meant to result in submission.
Some students watch, laughing nervously, and others seem to do their best not to pay attention. With man and boy, about equal in height, on their feet, the boy continues to resist being held and tries to free himself. They both spin and go down suddenly.
Identifying herself on Facebook as the boy’s aunt, Hannah Merriman made several comments, including….
