MARKING MILESTONES
RICHMOND – Dozens of people grazed at snack tables or looked through albums showing historical photographs and documents at the First Baptist Church of Richmond.
“There’s your mother,” Janis Lanning said as she and Paul Patterson focused on a black-and-white photo in an album at a table marked “1957.”
People gathered to mark the church’s 180th anniversary of community ministry and the completion of improvements that joined church buildings and added an elevator, Pastor William Isaacson said Saturday at the church.
The event also included a concert featuring singer Jeremy Pope, with James Wynn and Tim Bovard. While others met in the reception area, the trio warmed up with a song in the sanctuary – voices harmonizing behind an altar inscribed with the words, “This do in remembrance of me.”
