Richmond girls win, boys runners-up at Tri-County
LEXINGTON – Richmond nearly swept Tuesday’s Tri-County Meet at Gil Rector Stadium.
Led by wins in six events, the varsity girls cruised to the team title with 182.5 points – 68 points ahead of runner-up Wellington-Napoleon. Sparked by wins in five events, the boys took second with 158 points – 29 points behind Lexington.
“I’ve been … (really) happy with the effort we’ve had on the track,” Richmond coach Andy Frerking said near the end of the competition. “Our kids have run some pretty good times for this time of the year. The thing I’m happiest about is the way they’re competing. … Sometimes, at this time of year, the way this track meet runs, it’s kind of fast and they don’t get a lot of recovery time, so it’s more about competing and working hard than posting a great time, and I think our kids have competed … well.” Abrey Oldham, Kaylee Pugh and Kaylee King were
