Behler reports ‘good numbers’ for H-C boys track

HARDIN – Given its size, Hardin-Central has “good numbers” for track and field, varsity coach Brent Behler said. As of March 7, the Bulldogs had roughly 20 boys and eight participating, Behler estimated. “(With the) girls, we’d like to have a few more out, but we just couldn’t get any more out this year,” Behler said in the Hardin-Central schoolhouse gym. “Hopefully, we can increase those numbers … next year.” Senior Abby McNelly plans to throw the discus and shot put, and run. McNelly is impressed with Behler. “If you ask him a question, he’ll tell you what you need to work on,” she said. “He’s very honest about everything.” A former varsity head coach at Crest Ridge and Windsor, Behler is in seventh season as a track coach overall, including his third as a head track coach, but is new to leading the Hardin-Central program.
