Mail carrier faces delivery of prison time
KANSAS CITY – Federal Judge Greg Kays might deliver prison time to a mail carrier, Paul O. Robinson, 26, Richmond.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office states Robinson stole mail containing sports trading cards that he then sold to memorabilia dealers in Gladstone and Liberty. The plea agreement states he admitted guilt March 3 to mail theft and remains subject to other charges.
The U.S. Postal Service no longer employs Robinson.
A USPS customer stated he mailed a Brooklyn Nets Kevin Durant basketball card, valued at $1,925, to another USPS customer in Kansas City, based on the plea agreement. The card never arrived. The sender provided tracking and serial numbers for that and other cards that had gone missing after being mailed.
The USPS Inspector General’s Office recovered four missing cards at a Gladstone shop. The shop’s camera footage showed Robinson in his mail carrier clothes presenting cards for sale. The card’s sender confirmed Robinson as his mail carrier. Robinson had worked at…
