Richmond girls fall in districts, finish .500
OAK GROVE – The Spartans should be proud of what they accomplished this varsity girls basketball season, Richmond coach Chad Snyder said after Monday night’s 41-27, season-ending loss to Odessa in the Class 4 District 15 Tournament semifinals at Oak Grove High School.
“We went from five wins last year to 13 this year – and that’s quite an improvement,” Snyder said.
The Spartans finished 13-13. They were 5-17 last season.
And as the team discussed Monday in the locker room, there were fewer losses by 20 or more points this season than last season, Snyder said.
“Last year … if we got beat, we were probably getting it handed to us,” he said.
Missouri State High School Activities information states the Spartans had five losses by 20-plus points this season – Skutt Catholic of Omaha, Nebraska, 50 points; North Platte, 33 points; Trenton, 23 points; Holden, 24 points; and Carrollton, 26 points. MSHSAA also states that Richmond lost nine games by 20 or more points in 2021-2022.
