Virginia Ella (Palmer) Jackson, 82, of Richmond, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born on Sept. 24, 1939, in Marshall, the daughter of Harley S. and Norma (Newton) Breshears.  She was first married to Gene Palmer on Jan. 12, 1957; they later divorced.  She was then united in marriage to Roger Jackson on May 30, 1979; he preceded her in death.

Survivors include four sons, Phillip (Nina) Palmer of Edwards, Joe Palmer of Winnemucca, NV, Andy (Kristi) Palmer of Richmond, and Jeff Jackson of Cheyenne, WY; two daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Meierer and Lynne (Dennis) Camp, both of Richmond; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two step-children, Joyce (Paul) Davis of St. Louis and Larry (Beth) Jackson of Wildwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Virgil E. Breshears; sister, Dorothy Studler; grandson, Eric Keith Palmer; and daughter-in-law, Wendy Palmer.

Virginia was reared and educated in the area of her birth.  She worked for the United Medical Center in Wyoming and retired in 2002.  Virginia then worked at Ray County Memorial Hospital and retired in 2016.  She enjoyed bowling and went to several Women’s National Bowling tournaments.  Virginia served as president for the Cheyenne Women’s Bowling Association.  She loved her dog, Katie, and made a great chocolate sheet cake.  Virginia was of the Nazarene faith.  She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shirkey Hospice.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 6 p.m., with services to follow at 7 p.m.  Inurnment will be held at a later date.
