Richmond board names 2022-23 superintendent
RICHMOND – Dr. Greg Darling resigned, effective June 30, as Richmond School District superintendent of schools and Dr. Bryan Copple will take the job.
Copple is the Gallatin School District superintendent.
Copple will be the district’s fourth superintendent in three years, starting when members fired Mike Aytes in March 2020, leading to an ongoing lawsuit; brought in Jim Finley on an interim basis; replaced Finley with Darling starting in July 2020; and named Copple starting in fall 2022.
“After 38 years of education, I’m officially retiring,” Darling said Monday. “It’s time.”
Darling said he intends to keep busy, but not in education.
“I’ve got irons in the fire. It’s funny when you tell people you’re retiring that all the different people who aren’t in education need workers,” he said.
Darling has not decided exactly what to do.
