James Allen "Jim" Strain
James Allen “Jim” Strain, 79, of Hardin, died Monday, November 15, 2021, at his home.
James was born in Morton, Missouri, on January 8, 1942, the son of Oliver Henry and Beulah Mae (Whiting) Strain. He was united in marriage to Sharon K. Barnett in Las Vegas, on July 1, 1994, she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include Step-sons, Greg Williams (Kimberly) of Odessa and Dan Williams of Schertz, TX; brothers, Charles Strain of Richmond and Luther Strain of Apache Junction, AZ.; sisters, Elizabeth “Sue” Stark of Carrollton, and Glenda Louise Russell of Hardin; 8 Step-Grandchildren and other numerous nephews, nieces’ relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Norman Gene Strain, brothers-in-law Cody Russell and Donald Stark.
Jim was reared and educated in the area of his birth. In 1960 he opened Strain’s Café with his mother. It was well known for its great food and rolls. He also owned a laundry mat in Hardin. In 1977 he started his travel agency, “SeAirLan World Tours” which he loved and operated for 44 years. Jim enjoyed working in the yard, spending time with family, and eating meals together.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, beginning at 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hardin, burial will follow in the Hardin Cemetery.
