RICHMOND – Dear Elementary hosted a book fair. “It was a welcome sight indeed to see a book fair back at Dear Elementary,” teacher Melissa Steele stated. “You could feel the excitement in the hallways as most of the students had never experienced a book fair before. It had been two years since a fair was held in the school.” The Scholastic Book Fair took place from Oct. 5 to 12 at the Dear Elementary library. “With COVID concerns still looming, there was no Family Night held like in the past and parents were not able to come in and shop with their students,” Steele stated. “The students still turned out in droves with money in hand, anxious to spend it on books.” Fair proceeds go to the Dear Library program to purchase books and supplies. Dear plans on hosting another fair near the end of March.
