RICHMOND – The annual ALS walk occurred Oct. 2 on the Richmond High School track.

Roughly 70 people walked around the track to show support for the ALS Association.

Many people held signs with the names of the people for whom they walked. Participants also could write the names of those they know or are related to that have the disease on a key and attach it to the fence.

ALS Association information at als. org states amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, is a “progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.” About 5,000 people are diagnosed with ALS every year.
