Hardin-Central defeated in softball semifinal game
BRUNSWICK – Hardin-Central had to do some relocating to play what proved to be its last varsity softball game this season, a 12-2 Class 1 District 12 Tournament semifinal loss to Braymer/Breckenridge.
Originally, the Oct. 14 meeting was slated for Norborne, roughly a 20-minute drive from Hardin. Instead, it got relocated from Norborne to Brunswick, roughly an hour’s drive, coach Brandee Doyle said.
“It was wet,” Doyle, a Richmond High School alumna, said Oct. 15 at Hardin-Central. “We were going to go to Carrollton (first). We ended up in Brunswick.”
Relocating is part of postseason play, Doyle said.
“You realize you’re going to have to move a little bit of anywhere to get them in,” she said. “And it never fails – it always rains during district week. So we were prepared to move, but I’d rather have gone to Carrollton – I’m not going to lie – just because it’s closer. But Brunswick has nice fields, too.”
