RICHMOND – Taking Shapes, a non-profit organization, will present the community performance of “The Nutcracker All Jazzed Up” Dec. 18 at Richmond’s Farris Theatre. This event will feature more than 100 area dancers. The event is open to all children in the area at no cost, with the goal of giving all children a live performance opportunity through the arts. Taking Shape also hosts a Nutcracker Gala, where decorated nutcrackers from businesses, organizations and individuals will be put up for silent auction. All proceeds go to Taking Shape’s youth leadership program. The program’s mission is to instill leadership character values through community service and the Star Leadership curriculum. The purchase of unfinished wooden nutcrackers by businesses, organizations and individuals to decorate will be available for a donation of $30 for individuals and $50 for businesses.
